Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in Wisconsin to lead design and development of power tool products and manage 1–3 engineers. You will guide cross-functional teams and contribute to the execution of innovative product projects.

The role requires strong CAD/FEA skills, hands-on mentoring, and the ability to travel up to 10% for collaboration and testing. Join a leader in outdoor power equipment with a commitment to quality.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics.
• 5+ years of design experience.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (ProE, SolidWorks, NX) and FEA.

Responsibilities

• Manage 1–3 Design Engineers and Designers.
• Lead technical resource on mid/high complexity Power Tool NPD projects.
• Provide engineering input to Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams for trade-offs.
• Establish test regimens and deliver data analysis to support design recommendations.
• Mentor others and serve as a technical resource in areas of expertise.
• Perform mechanical stress, tolerance stack, gearing design, fluid dynamics, NVH analyses.

Senior Design Engineer

The Senior Design Engineer’s primary role uses highly developed engineering expertise and project management abilities to contribute to the design and development of new products and support of existing products within the department.

You’ll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

The Senior Design Engineer’s primary role uses highly developed engineering expertise and project management abilities to contribute to the design and development of new products and support of existing products within the Power Tools department.

• Managing 1-3 Direct reports (Design Engineers and Designers)
• Lead technical resource and mechanical engineering leader on mid/high complexity Power Tool New Product Development projects.
• Provide clear engineering information to Project Leaders and the Global Engineering teams facilitating trade-off decisions.
• Establish test regimens for components and assemblies within area of scope in the project with minimal guidance. Deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations
• Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to others.
• Execute a wide variety of calculations and software aided analyses in the following areas:
  • Mechanical stress analysis
  • Tolerance stack analyses
  • Gearing Design – Preferred
  • Fluid Dynamics - Preferred
  • NVH / response of dynamic systems
  • Mechanism development and analysis

What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics
• 5+ years of design experience.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD – ProE, Solidworks, NX, or similar.
• Competency with FEA.
• Deep mechanical aptitude is required, including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials.
• Experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence tools to maximize productivity and engineering rigor is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International).
• High interest in tools of the construction trades or Outdoor Power Equipment.
