Job summary

Winchester Interconnect is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to own the full lifecycle of new product design, optimize existing lines, and lead complex projects from concept to production. You will support manufacturing and purchasing, ensuring cost, quality, and schedule adherence, with emphasis on rigorous design reviews and GD&T discipline.

The role requires extensive CAD, tolerance analysis, and experience in stamping, machining, and injection molding.

Qualifications

  • Drafting standards per ASME Y14.5 and GD&T
  • SolidWorks expertise; SW cert preferred
  • Experience in tolerance analysis, DFMEAs, design reviews
  • Familiarity with stamping, machining, injection molding
  • Materials science and plating processes knowledge
  • BS in Engineering or 8+ years mechanical engineering experience; connector/mil/aero preferred
  • Knowledge of materials and platings; manufacturing/fabrication processes familiarity
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills; strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Ability to evaluate multiple design options and implement best solution
  • Experience designing tooling and packaging for production

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and management of new product projects per sales or customer needs
  • Create 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing instructions
  • Maintain and modify existing product lines and ECNs
  • Input and maintain MRP item masters and BOMs, support engineering file system
  • Identify design options, evaluate strengths/weaknesses, implement optimized solutions
  • Design tooling and packaging for production
  • Collaborate across the division and drive data-based decisions
  • Follow designs through production and gather process feedback

Position Summary:

The role of Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle of new product design, maintaining and optimizing existing product lines, and managing complex design projects from inception to completion. This role provides critical engineering support to manufacturing and purchasing departments while ensuring all designs meet cost, quality, and timeline requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Drafting Excellence: Strong proficiency in drafting standards per ASME Y14.5 and expert knowledge of GD&T
  • CAD Mastery: Expert proficiency in Solidworks (Solidworks certificate highly preferred)
  • Engineering Analysis: Proven experience in tolerance analysis, DFMEAs, and leading formal design reviews
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with various fabrication processes, specifically stamping, machining, and injection molding
  • Materials Science: Deep understanding of materials and various plating processes
  • Education Level: BS in Engineering or minimum 8 Years of experience in mechanical engineering. Experience in connector design and/or mil/aero industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials and platings
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and fabrication processes (Stamping, machining, injection molding)
  • Good organizational skills with a strong ability to juggle multiple tasks/projects at one time
  • Good communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an ability to identify multiple options and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of those options and implement the best solution

Are You Our Next ACE?
  • Lead the design and management of new product projects as requested by sales or customers, to meet customer-funded programs and new product development projects in accordance with engineering standards, systems, procedures, and policies
  • This includes creating 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Oversee the maintenance of existing product lines, including modifying 3D models/2D drawings and processing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Input and maintain MRP system data (Item Masters, BOMs) and assist in maintaining the engineering file management system
  • Identify multiple design options, evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and implement optimized solutions.
  • Design specialized tooling and packaging as required for production.
  • Collaborate across the division (PCG) in a way that leads by example, holds people accountable, and utilizes data to make informed decisions
  • Follow your designs through production and solicit feedback from process engineering - support the designs beyond engineering release

Pay Transparency:

Winchester Interconnect Corporation is committed to pay transparency. The pay range for this position is $90,000 to 130,000 per year, depending on experience, plus incentive compensation up to 5% of the annual salary, depending on performance. Exact salary will be contingent upon your experience, education, skills, and any other factors Winchester Interconnect Corporation considers relevant to the hiring decision.
