Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur, IL, is seeking an engineering professional to support the Drivetrain Platform Team for large mining/off-highway equipment. You will design, release, and support transmissions, gearboxes, and axles, using Creo and Teamcenter, and lead BIQ/NPI issue resolution.

Will work onsite five days a week in Decatur or East Peoria. Requires a Bachelor's in engineering-related field and strong analytical, communication, and design skills with cost-reduction focus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or materials science.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with CAD/CAE tools and product design concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate design changes to process partners via reviews and documentation.
  • Provide factory support for supply issues and BIQ/NPI resolution.
  • Maintain dashboards and manage large assemblies in Creo and Teamcenter.
  • Evaluate part resourcing and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage design control requests and platform-owned drawings.

Role Definition

Within the Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division, this position supports the Drivetrain Platform Team design for Large Mining Truck, Off-Highway Truck, and Wheel Tractor Scraper applications. The Drivetrain Platform Team has design control ownership for the system level of transmissions, torque converters, gearboxes, and axles. Responsibilities span across new product introduction, current product improvement, supplier and supply chain support, and manufacturing support.

What you will do
  • Communicating necessary design changes to process partners through Content Definition and Design Reviews
  • Factory support for Assurance of Supply Issues as first point of contact from engineering
  • Working with factory personnel to manage and resolve current product BIQ issues & NPI issues
  • Maintain dashboard with active list of BIQ issues and resolution status
  • Managing large assemblies in Creo and Teamcenter
  • Releasing engine arrangements and other platform-owned drawings
  • Investigating current production issues (CPI)
  • Deploying product robustness initiatives (AM Growth)
  • Evaluating parts resourcing and cost reduction projects
  • Managing design control requests
Degree Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

  • Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Computer-Aided Design & Engineering : Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
  • Product Design - MFG : Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
  • Product Design and Development : Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
