Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in Boise, Idaho. You will drive design-build and design-assist HVAC projects across healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial, and entertainment markets, collaborating with model coordinators, estimators, and field staff.

You will leverage VDC, CFD tools, and field feedback to ensure practical, cost-effective designs. You will guide complex calculations, read and interpret mechanical/plumbing plans, and supervise junior

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field
• 5+ years experience
• PE License required
• Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design (HVAC, plumbing) and understanding of system operations
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans
• Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to communicate with all levels
• Strong public speaking skills
• Strong computer skills including Revit, CADD, and MS Office

Responsibilities

• Attend project team design meetings as the design professional
• Prepare complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating
• Perform advanced calculations (heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction loss)
• Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues
• Supervise or direct the workflow of less-experienced engineers in HVAC or other system design
• Provide conceptual design for specific projects

Job description

Position Summary

Watch your engineering designs come to life! As a Senior Design Engineer at Southland Industries, you'll experience the excitement of working on design-build and design-assist projects in healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets. You’ll work hand in hand with our model coordinators, estimators, and trade staff through all aspects of a project to create a design that is practical, efficient and cost effective. You’ll also have access to internal teams using the most innovative practices in virtual construction design (VDC) and computational fluid dynamics, along with just-in-time feedback from the field.

Position Details

• Serves as design professional at project team design meetings
• Prepares complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating
• Performs more complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, etc
• Performs site inspections to determine compliance with construction documents and resolves design issues during construction phase
• Supervises or directs the workflow of less-experienced engineers in performing HVAC or other system design and do
• Provides conceptual design for specific projects

Pay

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (Colorado/New York City/California/Washington/Maryland) this ranges from $95,000.00-$125,000.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.

Contingent Employment
