Job summary

The Government of the Virgin Islands seeks a Deputy Marshal I to execute service of summonses, subpoenas, warrants, and other court processes throughout the Judiciary service area. The role requires traveling to locate parties, maintaining logs, and upholding court decorum.

Responsibilities include transporting individuals and court staff, providing security at court facilities, and performing related duties as assigned under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to five years experience as a Deputy Marshal I or two to five years experience in law enforcement.
• Knowledge of legal documents used to notify parties and enforce court orders.
• Ability to interact tactfully with the public and maintain decorum in court.

Responsibilities

• Serves summonses, subpoenas, orders, and other court processes.
• Travels across the court's service area to notify parties and deliver instruments.
• Keeps a log of papers received and served.
• Inquires of people and checks references to locate individuals for service.
• Escorts court personnel when making bank deposits.
• Attends court sessions to maintain order and protect personnel.
• May be trained to serve writs, house arrest and eviction notices.
• May perform Court Security Officer functions as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
