Reader’s Digest in New York seeks a Deputy Editor to oversee top-editing of the flagship magazine, collaborate on cross-surface content projects, and coordinate with marketing on branded/native initiatives. The role partners with the Head of Editorial to drive creative, rigorous content strategies.

You’ll lead by example, mentor editors, and ensure high-quality copy across print, digital, and social, while maintaining tight deadlines and editorial standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or communications and 10+ years in editorial roles.
• Proven ability to top-edit and edit reported stories for a trusted outlet.
• Strong collaboration across editorial operations, marketing, and ad teams.
• Familiarity with multimedia content and cross-surface storytelling objectives.
• Ability to manage deadlines and lead by example.

Responsibilities

• Top-edit all copy for Reader’s Digest’s flagship magazine and coordinate with Editorial Operations for timely printer-ready files.
• Leverage writing and editing skills across display copy, reporting, and story development.
• Assign freelance work and mentor other editors.
• Collaborate with ad/marketing on branded and native content that aligns with editorial standards.
• Work with Art and Creative teams on feature concepts and cross-surface executions.
• Drive brand-wide projects and events in partnership with the Head of Editorial.
