The California Labor Commissioner’s Office, part of the California Department of Industrial Relations, seeks a Deputy Labor Commissioner Supervisor to lead the Retaliation Complaint Investigation Unit. Job description

The mission of the California Labor Commissioner's Office is to ensure a just day's pay in every workplace in the State and to promote economic justice through robust enforcement of labor laws. By combating wage theft, protecting workers from retaliation, and educating the public, we put earned wages into workers' pockets and help level the playing field for law-abiding employers. This office is also known as the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE).

Under the general direction of the Deputy Labor Commissioner IV (Regional Manager, DLC IV) and Assistant Chief, the Deputy Labor Commissioner (Senior Deputy, DLC III) plans, organizes, and directs the work of the Labor Commissioner's Retaliation Complaint Investigation Unit. The Senior Deputy is responsible for planning, organizing and reviewing the work of the staff in the investigation into retaliation complaints against employers.

Working Conditions

The position will be filled in either Lodi or Sacramento, based on the selected candidate’s preference.

This position is located at: 3021 Reynolds Rach Pkwy, Suite 160; Lodi, CA, 95240.

The incumbent will spend most of the time working both remotely and at their assigned District office, with occasional travel to other offices. The District Office is an air-conditioned office building with natural artificial lighting, and standard office equipment. Remote supervision of staff is an essential part of this position. Regular travel may be required.

Special Requirements
