Job summary

Oneida Innovations Group is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join our team in New York. The role focuses on maintaining high-performance database servers, implementing designs, and ensuring security and recovery procedures in a regulated environment.

You will collaborate across IT teams to optimize hardware and software installations, manage backups, and support critical production and test databases.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience (3–5 years) with databases.
• Experienced in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database administration or design/support.
• Proven experience with large databases and performance tuning.
• Scripting knowledge (shell scripts).
• Experience with open-source databases is a plus (MySQL).
• Knowledge of DB2 iseries is a plus.
• Strong concepts of schema design, triggers, logs, stored procedures, backups.
• Windows and UNIX operating systems proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Maintain database server performance and follow maintenance plans.
• Implement designs, data access, replication, and related tasks.
• Collaborate with Users, Consultants, and Tech Teams for hardware/software decisions.
• Manage installation and customization of database platforms for data access.
• Prepare charts/diagrams to explain operations and train staff.
• Analyze workload and trends to ensure adequate performance.
• Develop and monitor security, backup, and recovery procedures.
• Work with IT team on changes, upgrades, and enhancements.
