Job summary

Nelnet, Inc. is seeking an IT Software Engineer - DBA to develop and maintain enterprise-scale database solutions. The role requires DBA experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server, and adherence to security and best practices.

The position operates within Nelnet's hybrid work environment across multiple U.S. offices including Madison, WI; Lincoln, NE; Centennial, CO. The ideal candidate will design data models, manage database performance, support on-call rotations, and meet NIST and clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification with focus on Microsoft Database technologies.
• Experience working as a DBA.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL Server and related administration.

Responsibilities

• Participate in solution design to satisfy a wide range of business needs.
• Analyze and translate business requirements into technical requirements and create design docs and specs.
• Adhere to best Practices and standards in technology and security.
• Provide post-implementation support including monitoring and debugging.
• Keep abreast of new technologies and how they can be leveraged for business solutions.
