Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA is seeking an experienced Databricks Engineer to design, build, and operate an enterprise data lakehouse powering analytics and reporting across PNNL systems. This role focuses on delivering governed, reliable data products.

You will enable downstream analytics with Power BI and AI/ML, modernise legacy warehouses and ETL, shape CI/CD for Databricks, and ensure secure access via Unity Catalog and data governance across environments.

Qualifications

• PhD and 1 year of Data or Software Engineering experience -OR-
• MS/MA and 3 years of Data or Software Engineering experience -OR-
• BS/BA and 5 years of Data or Software Engineering experience -OR-
• AA and 14 years of Data or Software Engineering experience -OR-
• HS/GED and 16 years of Data or Software Engineering experience

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable Databricks lakehouse solutions.
• Operate and optimise production Databricks environments, including Jobs/Workflows and CI/CD.
• Modernise legacy warehouses and ETL processes; develop reliable ingestion-to-gold pipelines.
• Implement secure data platforms with access controls, lineage, and monitoring.
