Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking a Databricks Engineer to design, build, and operate an enterprise data lakehouse powering analytics and reporting across lab systems. You will deliver governed, reliable data products and enable downstream analytics with Power BI and AI/ML.

You will modernize legacy data warehouses, shape CI/CD with DAB and GitHub Actions, configure workspaces and clusters, and implement RBAC, data masking, and Unity Catalog for secure data sharing.

Qualifications

• PhD with 1+ year in data or software engineering, or an MS/MA with 3+ years, or BS/BA with 5+ years, or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of production Databricks experience and Python/SQL in a Spark/Databricks environment.
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Delta Lake preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate Databricks lakehouse powering analytics and reporting.
• Develop governed, reliable data products for ERP and downstream analytics with Power BI/AI/ML.
• Modernize legacy data warehouses and ETL tools into Databricks; implement CI/CD (DAB, GitHub Actions).
• Configure and operate workspaces, clusters, jobs, and workflows; ensure performance and reliability.
• Implement RBAC, data masking, Unity Catalog for secure data sharing.
