Job description

The Office of Livable Streets (OLS) focuses on strategic planning, community engagement, research, policy, design, implementation, and long-term management to create livable streets that support safety, accessibility, inclusion, resiliency, active modes, community cohesion, and economic vitality across New York City.

They aim to enhance pedestrian, bicycle, and micromobility networks, providing comfortable, connected, green, and reliable transportation options throughout the five boroughs. Special emphasis is placed on Priority Investment Areas, mode shift, and reimagining streets. The office also develops innovative programs, design typologies, project delivery methods, and analysis tools to meet evolving needs and technologies.

SFU manages procurement, planning, installation, and maintenance of street furniture such as bike parking, benches, leaning bars, and wayfinding signage for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders. These efforts aim to make the city more walkable, bikeable, and vibrant. SFU tracks locations, conditions, planning, and maintenance records using Microsoft Access, GIS datasets, SharePoint forms, and custom applications, with support from NYC DOT IT.

Position Overview

OLS seeks a talented Senior Data Manager within SFU to oversee database systems, including maintenance and cybersecurity. Reporting to the SFU Deputy Director of Data & Design, the role involves integrating SharePoint and Power BI, leading database expansion or transition with NYC DOT IT, troubleshooting, building queries, forms, and reports, training staff, system enhancements, automation, GIS integration, and documentation. The Senior Data Manager will also supervise data entry and analysis, collaborate on geospatial data projects, and advise other units on database matters.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including 24 semester credits in cybersecurity, network security, computer science, programming, engineering, IT, or related fields; or
  2. A high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of relevant experience; or
  3. Equivalent education and/or experience, with college credits substituting for experience as specified.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience building and maintaining Microsoft Access databases, including tables, forms, and queries
  • Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL
  • Experience managing data in Microsoft Dataverse and using PowerApps
  • Automation skills with VBA, Macros, Python, etc.
  • Proficiency with GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, AGOL, QGIS) and database integration
  • Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
  • Excellent time management

Additional information includes eligibility for the Cyber Security Analyst Exam #5061, remote work options, and application procedures. The position is located at 55 Water St, NY, NY, with standard hours of 9 am to 5 pm, 35 hours per week.
