Senior Database Administrator - SQL Server

Join our team! A Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing SQL Server databases to ensure their reliability, availability, and performance. Here are the key aspects of the role:

About the Role

In this opportunity as a Senior Database Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Database Management: Install, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instances across multiple environments.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through index tuning, query optimization, and resource monitoring.
  • Backup and Recovery: Design and implement robust backup strategies and disaster recovery processes.
  • High Availability Solutions: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping.
  • Monitoring: Enhance the SQL monitoring process
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex database issues in production and non-production environments.
  • Security Audits: Perform regular security audits and implement measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, IT staff, and stakeholders to improve application performance and solve database-related issues.
  • Documentation: Accurately document work and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support 24x7 Operations/Production SQL Server 2016+

About You

You’re a fit for the role if your background includes:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience managing SQL Server in various environments
  • Proficiency in SQL Server versions 2016–2022, including installation, configuration, and migration
  • Strong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Deep knowledge of SQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
  • Experience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in monitoring and acting on critical production issues (Datadog experience would be optimal)
  • AWS Experience (specifically designing, implementing, and/or supporting RDS)
  • Experience in PostgreSQL will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with various teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
