Job summary

SHEIN U.S. is seeking a Database Engineer for its San Diego corporate office to maintain scalable production databases and ensure zero-downtime operations.

You will join the DBRE team responsible for reliability, performance, and security, working with DBA/SRE disciplines across distributed environments. This role requires MySQL expertise, cloud experience, scripting, and collaboration with remote teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent technical discipline.
• MySQL experience in production environments.
• Experience with Azure or other cloud providers.
• Understanding of distributed/replicated database topologies.
• Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset.
• Experience monitoring and optimizing system performance.
• Solid Linux knowledge to deploy open-source software.
• Proficiency in multiple scripting languages (Go/Python/Shell).
• Desire to tackle scale and complexity to improve services.
• Ability to stay calm during crises and collaborate with remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain scalable, reliable production database environments.
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues.
• Tune performance, queries, and indexes.
• Build tools and scripts to automate operations.
• Provide database design guidance with development teams.
• Handle upgrades and migrations; monitor performance.
• Triage incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Capacity planning and benchmarking across databases.
• Assess data integrity, availability, security, and privacy.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support on pager rotation.
