Senior Database Developer - DHS OHSS (Onsite)

Location: Washington, D.C.

BluePath Labs is a fast-growing research and management consulting company focused on challenging research problems for both government and private sector clients. This position involves supporting a key government client with expert analytical chemistry assistance to aid its mission to stem the flow of opioids into the United States.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) hosts the independent Office of Homeland Security Statistics (OHSS), which leads the collection and dissemination of immigration-related and other statistical data related to DHS operations. OHSS was formerly known as the Office of Immigration Statistics and is being renamed and expanded with broader scope and responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

1. Establish and maintain a comprehensive, effective, and secure data management framework to enable OHSS to collect, store, process, and analyze data seamlessly, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and security.
2. Implement data validation rules and automated data cleansing processes.
3. Promote automation in data collection, storage, processing, and analysis.
4. Maintain and update a data dictionary.
5. Enforce standard naming conventions for data management.
6. Ensure report data accessibility to all stakeholders.
7. Support business operations and enhance data-driven insights while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 15+ years of federal onsite experience supporting and understanding agency policies and workflows
• Expertise with database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining relational databases, data warehouses, and ETL processes
• Proficiency in data analysis, data modeling, and data integration, with familiarity with tools like ERwin or similar
• Knowledge of Data Governance frameworks and practices to ensure data quality and compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Experience developing stored procedures, functions, and triggers
• Familiarity with cloud database platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Knowledge of federal security standards such as FISMA and FedRAMP applicable to database design and implementation
