Job summary

RegEd is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to maintain and improve databases, both on-premise and in the cloud, focusing on performance and reliability.

You will design objects, tune queries, and lead incident resolution as part of a larger data team, in a remote/hybrid environment with flexible schedules.

Qualifications

• 7+ years database analysis, programming or similar experience.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Senior Database Developer or equivalent.
• Extensive hands-on experience in SQL 2016 and higher.
• Cloud-based database experience in Azure (Managed Instance, Hyperscale, Azure SQL DB, VM).
• Experience writing complex database procedures, functions and triggers.
• Understanding of execution plans, system views, and dynamic SQL.
• Strong knowledge of database structures, theories and practices.
• Experience with SQL Server HADR technologies (Always On, log shipping, backup/recovery).
• Experience with monitoring platforms like SSMS, Grafana, PowerBI, or similar.
• PowerShell scripting experience and Git/version-control familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and maintain database objects on premise and in the cloud.
• Optimize queries and develop efficient SQL code.
• Lead investigation and resolution of database incidents.
• Build and maintain monitoring infrastructure for alerts and dashboards.
• Support database security and compliance using encryption tools.
• Advise on data retention, tiering and archive strategies for high-volume databases.
• Collaborate with Architecture, QA, Applications and Infrastructure teams.
