Job Description

Position Overview:

To support our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Senior Database Administrator with experience in SQL Server Administration and other data platform technologies (Preferred).

The Plex Cloud Operations team takes great pride in being a part of a continuous improvement culture, and as a data services team member, you will meaningfully contribute to the operationalization of state-of-the-art, leading-edge software and adoption of open-source technologies. You will run scalable, reliable, and secure applications while helping improve the delivery of our products. You will join a team that ensures issues are resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible, with minimal customer impact.

You will report to the Manager, Data Services - Plex.

Your Responsibilities:

1. Implement and maintain database server and SQL Server KPI monitoring/alerting
2. Chart database use over time to identify scaling opportunities
3. Database bottleneck identification and corrective action
4. Suggest modifications/optimizations (to Developers) for tuning T-SQL statements and stored procedures
5. In-depth query execution plan expertise
6. Experience using SQL Server query store for performance related analysis
7. Perform post-incident customer impact analysis and monthly application availability metrics
8. Perform annual database related audit evidence gathering and response
9. Install, configure, and support SQL server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
10. Participate in On-Call rotations
11. Troubleshoot a variety of database issues that occur in private datacenters, Azure, and AWS
12. Access management
13. Maintain backups and integrity checks
14. Participate in off hours Maintenance windows
15. Routine preventative maintenance
16. Participate in many projects involving data services
17. Work within a global team environment or to accomplish multiple tasks

The Essentials - You Will Have:

1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
2. Legal authorization to work in the US is required - we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

1. Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in database administration or operations
2. Experience managing a production system that is highly available and reliable 24/7/365
3. Experience managing Microsoft SQL server in public cloud
4. Experience writing complex T-SQL and SQL Server stored procedures
5. Experience building automated solutions that promote resiliency and self-healing of applications
6. Operational experience working with different technologies and managing large volumes of data
7. Experience troubleshooting performance and tuning queries and stored procedures
8. SQL skills for writing and reviewing scripts
9. Experience setting up backup schedules and securing data
10. Experience building automation scripts for database server builds using terraform or ansible
11. Experience with Operations technologies: Server Operating Systems (Windows Server, Linux); Virtualization Environments
12. Additional experience with any of the following: PowerShell, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Kafka, Druid, Terraform, Ansible, Open-source technologies and cloud services: Azure, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Terraform; Chef, Puppet and/or Ansible, SQL Sentry or any other SQL monitoring tool, External monitoring services like PRTG and Dynatrace, HashiCorp Consul; OpsGenie, Prometheus, and Alert Manager.

For this role, the Base Salary Compensation ranges from $113,600.00 to $170,400.00 with an annual target bonus of 5% of base salary. Our company benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
