Minnesota IT Services in Saint Paul is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage and optimize Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, monitor operations, apply patches, and coordinate with developers and IT operations to deliver scalable data solutions.

The MNIT MDH team provides services for over 250+ applications and delivers the information technology to drive one of the leading public health systems in the nation. You will support an agency that works to protect, maintain, and improve the health of all Minnesotans.
This position provides professional knowledge and skills in database administration. This includes the support of relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle Enterprise Server and PostgreSQL. This support includes: monitoring the day‑to‑day operations of RDBMS, patching and upgrading RDBMS and future planning for RDBMS implementations and changes. This position promotes appropriate data base management standards, best practices, procedures and guidelines for database management within the division.
Data base administrator (DBA) duties performed by this position are typically more complex and of a larger scope than those lead by less experienced DBAs. The DBA at this level requires minimal direction, coaching and mentoring when leading database administration tasks.
The Level 4 DBA is an expert and performs complex database administration tasks. They work with business representatives, development staff and IT operations staff. The Level 4 DBA works with development team members by guiding, consulting and collaborating on the development, testing, deployment and adoption of solutions. They act as a consultant for all RDBMS needs concerning system changes and coordinate implementation planning and releases.
This position requires an employee to work onsite at 625 Robert St. N., St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% [or more or less if space limitations remain] of the time, with limited telework available.

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in database administration, including administration, maintenance, performance tuning, security, and backup and recovery.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master’s degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor’s degree for one (1) year; and an associate’s degree for six (6) months.
