Qualifications:
- Create and manage production databases.
- Select and enter utility program codes to monitor database performance, such as record distribution and available memory.
- Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to the database management system.
- Review and correct programs, answer user questions, and confer with coworkers to assess the impact of database changes on other systems and staff costs.
- Modify database programs to improve processing performance, known as performance tuning.
- Specialize in one or more types of database management systems.
- Assist in planning, development, maintenance, and monitoring of integrated database systems, ensuring new applications align with database structural parameters.
- Evaluate user requests for new data elements and systems, incorporate them into the shared data environment, and provide technical assistance.
- Coordinate data use to ensure integrity, control redundancy, load databases, and reorganize as needed.
- Perform data modeling and prototyping, including logical and physical data modeling and designing relational database models.
- Implement security and recovery procedures.
- Determine and execute database search strategies and storage requirements.
- Maintain data dictionaries to ensure consistent definitions and set standards for their use.
- Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Create test database environments, including necessary libraries and procedures.
- Execute procedures to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures.

- Possess experience in computer systems analysis or programming.

- Be familiar with EIR Accessibility standards and assistive technologies, ensuring user interfaces are compliant and supporting users with accessibility issues.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Administrative Applications Production Data Services team by providing on-call and operational support for critical application databases with complex data models, workflows, and reports.
- Support requests from the Data Warehouse team, monitor backups, and oversee database performance and locking issues.
- Create logical and physical data models.
- Proficiency in Oracle databases is essential for performance optimization, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
- Collaborate on maintaining data models, especially for Oracle, and work with Oracle Stored Procedures and Functions.
- Generate schema statistics across multiple environments and script database tables.
- Participate in on-call support rotations.
Skills:
- Experience in Oracle database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of Oracle database structures, data analysis, and performance optimization.
- Experience designing enterprise applications or services.
- Ability to create technical and functional design documentation.
- Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle using Agile methodologies like Scrum.
- Experience with multi-tier system/application development, such as SOA, Microservices, or 3-Tier architectures.
