Job summary

Scaleneworks is seeking a Senior Database Administrator in Alpharetta, GA to manage DB2 environments across development to production. You will ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance while coordinating with developers for complex query tuning and schema changes.

The role requires 5+ years in DB2 administration, experience with HADR/CDC, and familiarity with Linux/Unix/Windows ecosystems. This is a contractor position with hourly compensation.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible experience as a Senior Database Administrator or similar role.

Senior Database Administrator – Scaleneworks

Alpharetta, GA.

Responsibilities

• Manage databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission‑critical production systems.
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
• Apply data modeling techniques to support development and implementation that meet integration and performance expectations.
• Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, provide end‑to‑end problem resolution, refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement and perform scheduled maintenance and release‑deployment support after hours.
• Provide 24/7 support for critical production systems.
• Monitor and analyze performance metrics for medium to high‑complexity databases with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility of the data.
• Utilize data administration on DB2 V11.5 and V11.1 for Linux, Unix, and Windows, including HADR and CDC.
• Apply database patches and upgrades, such as EMC Networker, db2top, CA7 scheduler, shell scripting, and routine DBA activities.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience as a Senior Database Administrator, Associate Operations Manager, or a related position.
• 5 years of experience with DB2 and database administration on V11.1 for Linux, Unix, and Windows, HADR, and CDC.
• Experience with db2top, CA7 scheduler, and shell scripting.
• At least 2 years of experience with database administration on V11.5 for Linux, Unix, and Windows, HADR, CDC, and EMC Networker.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer and Information Systems, Engineering (any) or a related field.
