Senior Database Administrator - 6 months project - 100% Remote

Title: Seniro Database Administrator
Compensation: $48.03 to $76.84/hr based on experience.
Duration: 6 month contract
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

Our Client (Health Insurance Industry) is seeking a highly motivated TEMPORARY- Database Administrator Sr to join their team. The Database Administrator Sr will be responsible for managing the daily operations and long-term health of all Structured Query Language (SQL) server database systems. The incumbent will provide expert-level support and technical leadership in the design, implementation, optimization and maintenance of enterprise database infrastructure. As a subject matter expert (SME), the incumbent will partner with the Information Technology (IT) department and other business units to ensure database environments are secure, resilient and aligned with organizational goals. The incumbent will work independently, with guidance from the department manager and play a key role in troubleshooting, performance tuning and strategic planning. The incumbent will provide technical expertise and mentor team members while driving database solutions that support mission-critical applications and data integrity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • 95% - Program Support
    • Participates in a mission-driven culture of high-quality performance, with a member focus on customer service, consistency, dignity and accountability.
    • Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
    • Manages and administers SQL workloads hosted in Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance and related services.
    • Monitors and secures cloud-based SQL resources, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
    • Coordinates with network administrators and application developers to optimize database performance in support of application requirements.
    • Provides functional and technical expertise for client/server development, particularly database design and optimization.
    • Provides technical guidance and assistance to programmers and analysts in the database analysis process.
    • Researches, analyzes and resolves problems related to access, usage and performance of database system.
    • Creates and maintains physical database structures to support application development.
    • Maintains SQL servers and database security across various environments.
    • Develops and implements comprehensive backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
    • Automates day-to-day database administration tasks through scripting and job scheduling.
    • Manages database upgrade processes, including patching and version migrations.
    • Fulfills on-call/after-hours support as needed.
  • 5% - Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS) or a related field PLUS 4 years of experience with progressive technical responsibilities in IT with specific emphasis on SQL server administration required, including 1 year of experience managing SQL environments in Azure; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above may also be qualifying.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or equivalent Azure certification (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate).
