The purpose of this position is to design, configure, implement, document, and report on databases within the Enterprise platform, primarily SQL Server. Support Applications Development, other IT divisions, and county-wide business users. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline, plus a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in database design, administration, and security; or, in lieu of the required degree, a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in database design, administration, and security that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the position.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies (man-made or natural) to meet the business needs of Durham County.
