Job summary

Sensient Technologies in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to own enterprise SQL environments across SQL Server and Oracle, driving performance, security, and reliability.

You will partner with Infrastructure, Server, Storage, Networking, Security, and Applications teams; on-site 5 days a week in Milwaukee, WI or Hoffman Estates, IL; salary and benefits are competitive.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
• 5–7 years’ experience administering SQL environments
• Strong understanding of SQL clustering and availability groups
• Ability to troubleshoot blocking, indexing, and capacity issues
• Familiarity with Idera is a plus

Responsibilities

• Administer, design, develop, and deliver enterprise database solutions while owning day-to-day SQL environment operations
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance, including tuning and proactive issue resolution
• Partner with Infrastructure, Server, Storage, Networking, Security, and Applications teams on backup, recovery, and multi-year database strategy
• Plan, organize, and track functional tasks, projects, and project-based initiatives while ensuring timely delivery
• Monitor, track, and escalated database incidents through the Service Desk and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues

As a Senior Database Administrator you’ll have the opportunity to work across Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle, tackle complex performance and security challenges, and influence the design of enterprise-class database environments.

What you’ll do

• Administer, design, develop, and deliver enterprise database solutions while owning day-to-day SQL environment operations.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance, including tuning and proactive issue resolution.
• Partner with Infrastructure, Server, Storage, Networking, Security, and Applications teams on backup, recovery, and multi-year database strategy.
• Plan, organize, and track functional tasks, projects, and project-based initiatives while ensuring timely delivery.
• Monitor, track, and escalated database incidents through the Service Desk and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues.

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience administering SQL environments
• Strong understanding of SQL clustering, availability groups, and standalone architecture
• Ability to work with teams to identify, troubleshoot and remediate a variety of SQL problems including locking/blocking, indexing issues, and capacity review/turning
• Familiarity with Idera is a plus

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000. Pay within the range is based on several factors, which may include, but are not limited to, education, work experience, specialized training, and labor market conditions.
