Cornerstone Defense LLC is seeking a Software Engineer 3 focused on Data Transformation & Analytics in Annapolis Junction, MD. You will design and optimize data pipelines using Apache Spark and Python, ensuring scalable processing for analytics workloads.

The role demands strong Linux/CLI, Bash scripting, and SQL across major databases. The ideal candidate has a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in CS with several years of SWE experience, and familiarity with Airflow, JIRA/Confluence, and HPC tools

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline with related experience.
• Experience with Linux CLI and scripting for automation.
• Proficient in Python and Java development for data transformation workloads.
• Hands-on experience with distributed big data processing using Apache Spark.
• Proficient in Jupyter Notebook for exploratory data analysis.
• Comfort with data wrangling using pandas and NumPy on diverse data formats (Parquet, JSON, CSV, XML).
• Knowledge of data quality concepts, validation, and anomaly detection.
• Experience with Apache Airflow to orchestrate complex workflows.
• Strong SQL skills across MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with HPC scheduling tools like Slurm.
• Experience with Jira/Confluence tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize data ingress/egress pathways for analytics workloads.
• Develop data transformation pipelines and distributed processing using Spark.
• Automate data workflows using Bash, Python, and Airflow.
• Collaborate with data science and analytics teams to ensure scalable solutions.
