Job summary

First Soft Solutions LLC seeks a Senior Data Streaming Engineer to lead the design and implementation of secure, enterprise-grade streaming platforms using Kafka and Flink. You will guide cross-functional teams, define reference architectures, and deliver reusable streaming components.

The role emphasizes security, governance, and scalable streaming patterns across the organization, including mentoring and collaboration with multiple teams. Onsite in Woodlawn, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years IT experience including senior or advisory engineering roles.
• 5+ years in enterprise-scale streaming or secure delivery environments.
• Expert-level proficiency with Kafka, Flink, Java, Avro, and Confluent Schema Registry.
• Strong ability to define enterprise streaming patterns, reference architectures, standards, and reusable solutions.
• Experience with Kafka Streams or similar stateful streaming frameworks.
• CI/CD and DevSecOps practices with secure pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, Nexus).
• Secure coding practices and enterprise vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

• Guide application and platform teams in adopting standardized Kafka, Flink, CI/CD security patterns.
• Create enterprise documentation, technical standards, reference architectures, and reusable components.
• Mentor and collaborate across teams to resolve complex streaming performance issues.
• Hands-on design of secure microservices and streaming pipelines.

• Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including senior or advisory engineering roles
• 5+ years of experience in enterprise-scale streaming or secure delivery environments
• Expert-level proficiency with Kafka, Flink, Java, Avro, and Confluent Schema Registry
• Strong experience defining enterprise streaming patterns, reference architectures, standards, and reusable solutions
• Experience with Kafka Streams or similar stateful streaming frameworks
• Strong experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps practices
• Experience designing secure CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, and Nexus
• Experience with enterprise vulnerability management and secure coding practices
• Experience with POAM-aligned remediation workflows
• Experience with Kafka security configurations including SSL/mTLS and SASL/OAUTHBEARER
• Strong understanding of Kafka internals including brokers, partitions, replication, consumer groups, ISR, retention, ACLs, RBAC, and cluster health
• Experience troubleshooting consumer lag, serialization failures, state-store issues, rebalancing, replication delays, and performance bottlenecks
• Ability to create enterprise documentation, technical standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring, troubleshooting, and cross-team collaboration skills
