Coinbase is seeking a data scientist to partner with product, engineering and design to improve customer‑facing products and core systems. You will define metrics, build measurement and causal frameworks, and translate insights into shipped improvements.

The role emphasizes high‑impact, cross‑functional problems such as user experience, growth, and safety. You will work with SQL and Python in an iterative product environment and apply responsible AI practices.

Qualificações

• A BA/BS in a quantitative field with 5+ years of relevant experience or a PhD in a quantitative field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in driving impactful data science projects that tackle ambiguous problem spaces.
• Ability to influence external stakeholders by synthesizing data learnings into compelling stories.
• Practical expertise in applying complex modeling frameworks to practical business problems.
• Professional experience using SQL and Python.
• Experience working with digital products in an iterative development cycle.

About the Role

Data Science is an integral component of Coinbase's product and decision making process: we work in partnership with Product, Engineering and Design to influence the roadmap and better understand our users. With a deep expertise in experimentation, analytics and advanced modeling, we produce insights which directly move the company's bottom line.

We're looking for a Data Scientist to join Coinbase who will partner with product, engineering, and design to improve both customer‑facing products and the core systems that power them. You'll work across areas like consumer products (spot and advanced trading, yield, Coinbase One, and new launches) or platform systems (Payments, Risk & Trust, Identity & Onboarding, Compliance, Customer Support, and Experimentation). The role focuses on high‑impact, cross‑functional problems like improving user experience, driving growth, and making Coinbase safer and more reliable. You'll define and instrument key metrics, build measurement and causal frameworks, build and tune business critical models, and translate insights into product strategy and shipped improvements.

Compensation

Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range from $180,370 to $212,200 USD. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).
