Job summary

Akina, Inc. seeks a Data Scientist 3 to lead ML/analytics initiatives at Annapolis Junction, MD. You will guide a team of data scientists, translate SME input into automated analytics, and productionize prototype algorithms within mission-focused workflows.

You will apply ML, data mining and statistical methods to complex datasets and produce actionable insights for customers, with a strong emphasis on scalable, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in two (2) or more of: designing/implementing ML, data mining, advanced analytical algorithms, AI, or software engineering with data analysis software such as R, Python, SAS, or MATLAB.
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a quantitative discipline.
• An additional four (4) years of experience in software development, cloud development, analyzing datasets, or developing analytics can substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
• A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a quantitative discipline can substitute for two (2) years of experience.
• A Doctoral Degree from an accredited college or university in a quantitative discipline can substitute for four (4) years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML, data mining, statistical and graph-based algorithms to analyze datasets.
• Prototype and compare algorithms to select final model based on performance metrics.
• Build models or experiments to generate data when training data are unavailable.
• Generate reports and visualizations that summarize datasets and provide data-driven insights.
• Lead a team of data scientists in multiple analytic efforts.
• Translate SME input into automated analytics and production-ready workflows.
