Job summary

Root seeks a Staff Data Scientist I to lead the lifetime value modeling and associated production workflows. You will guide a team of data scientists, collaborate with ML engineers, data engineers, and business units to improve marketing, risk, and product decisions.

You will design experiments, prioritize work, and set standards for validation, monitoring, and deployment across a complex ML system at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data science experience delivering high-impact work.
• Strong survival analysis expertise (time-to-event modeling).
• Experience building and deploying production ML models with measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and oversight of LV modeling ecosystem.
• Mentor and coach data scientists on modeling, validation, and delivery.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, data engineers, and business teams to improve decisions.
• Frame modeling problems, evaluate approaches, and guide technical direction.
• Design experiments and measurement plans with clear success criteria and monitor results.
• Support production deployment and monitoring of models, ensuring reliability and interpretability.
