Job summary

The Home Depot is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist in Atlanta to lead high-impact data science initiatives that improve profitability and customer experience.

You will drive the development of advanced analytics infrastructure and partner with product managers to prioritize tasks and mentor the data science team. You will present insights to leaders, define staffing needs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.)
• 6+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point
• Proficient in a modern scripting language (preferably Python)
• Proficient running queries against data (preferably with Google BigQuery or SQL)
• Proficient with data visualization software (preferably Tableau)
• Mastery utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights that help solve business problems
• Proficient in Prescriptive Modeling like optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP
• Demonstrated proficiency in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis

Responsibilities

• 35% Solution Development - design and develop algorithms and models against large datasets to create business insights; communicate insights to leaders and business customers; prepare reports and presentations; communicate impacts of recommendations
• 30% Project Management & Team Support - determine project goals; prioritize work; mentor junior roles; distribute workload and resources; support recruiting and hiring for the team
• 20% Business Collaboration - leverage business knowledge to formulate solutions; build trust with internal customers; educate partners on analytics; understand IT needs for success; seek new opportunities to leverage data science
• 15% Technical Exploration & Development - stay current on data science developments; codify data products and processes; develop reusable algorithms; document code and processes
