Job summary

LexisNexis Risk Solutions is seeking a Senior Data Scientist I to join the Auto Insurance Rating Analytics team. You will define project scope with management and execute it independently, mentoring junior staff as needed.

You will develop and analyze data to quantify competitive performance, apply ML techniques, and collaborate with vertical and product teams to create innovative solutions for the insurance market.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; Master/PhD preferred.
• 3+ years in data manipulation and AI/ML methods, preferably with credit data.
• Strong expertise in R, Python, SQL, or equivalent.
• Experience with large, distributed data sets.
• Solid ML knowledge: hypothesis testing, model development, validation.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R with common ML packages.
• Ability to learn new tech (Pyspark, Azure/AWS ML) and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Developing, analyzing, and modeling data to quantify competitive performance and design new approaches.
• Analyzing data to recommend solutions, modeling potential impacts of changes.
• Applying statistical and predictive modeling to manage high-volume data from diverse sources.
• Provide leadership in small project teams and guidance to junior staff.
• Explain complex results and support cross-functional teams with credit-based data sources.
• Support existing models and improve best practices across the team.
• Work with Python and SQL, with possible cloud services exposure.
