Job summary

AstraZeneca plc in Cambridge, MA, seeks a Senior Scientist to join a newly formed data science team in early oncology R&D. The role focuses on mining large datasets to support target identification, MOA studies, and biomarker strategy development, with emphasis on immune system aging.

You will work with biobank and multi-omics data, develop reproducible pipelines, and present actionable insights to the project team. Strong Python or R, ML foundations, and a PhD in a related field are required.

Qualifications

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Epidemiology, or related field (0–2 years post‑graduate experience).
• Minimum 2 years of experience with large patient‑derived ‘omics datasets and clinical data.
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing reproducible proteomics pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Execute and maintain pipelines for large-scale datasets.
• Apply analytical methods and ML to identify targets and biomarkers.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists for MOA studies.
• Generate high-quality visualizations and reports for the team.
• Provide data-driven insights for biomarker strategies.
• Present data in team meetings and stay current with data science tools.
