Job summary

The Cigna Group is seeking a seasoned Data Scientist to build and deploy predictive models using healthcare data, partnering with leadership and engineering to deliver robust analytics. You will own projects end-to-end, from ideation to production, and present results to both technical and business audiences.

Applicants should have 5+ years in healthcare data science, strong ML and statistics background, and experience deploying models in cloud environments. A MS/PhD in a STEM field is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years direct Data Science experience in a healthcare related environment.
• Strong background in stats, ML and model development.
• Experience deploying ML/predictive models to prod/cloud env't
• Strong skills with Python, SQL, Git, Keras and TensorFlow
• Knowledge of health care data (claims, EHR, labs)
• Experience with clean, well-documented code and best practices
• Ability to peer review and document workflows
• End-to-end project ownership from scoping to prod
• Ability to present to both technical and business audiences
• Ability to define DS-specific project goals within large deliverables
• Ability to explain timelines, rationale and goals to meet deadlines
• MS or PhD in STEM preferred

Responsibilities

• Contribute to analytics for pricing and underwriting improvements.
• Execute special projects to enhance Commercial Healthcare underwriting.
• Create insights for business leaders to advance strategic objectives.
• Communicate progress with stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Stay updated on analytic tools and modernize pricing/UW processes.
• Ensure solutions integrate with current workflows and add long-term value.
• Design, launch and measure pilots to test new solutions.
• Develop models aligning business problems with GLMs, ML, clustering or LLMs.
