Description

Role

Northwestern Medicine recognizes the critical role of technology in shaping the future of health care. Information Services supports the organization by:

  • Enabling digital solutions leveraging AI, automation, and advanced cyber controls to support digital transformation
  • Implementing advanced technologies in clinical and administrative areas
  • Enhancing end-user support to improve modern infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data Science team by collaborating with stakeholders to design, build, and evaluate solutions for business and clinical problems using data, statistics, and machine learning tools. Focus on delivering impactful solutions that can be maintained and scaled.
  • This role is dedicated to the Canning Thoracic Institute, conducting research and prototyping advanced technological solutions to improve medical training, quality of care, and interventions for pulmonary and thoracic patients.
  • Develop advanced technologies that facilitate the use of medical data across disciplines and modalities, including lung sounds, ECG waveforms, airway videos, CT images, and clinical notes.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in CS, Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in machine learning, including model building, outcome analysis, and deployment
  • Experience with cloud platforms like Azure for scalable data processing and deployment
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and deep learning libraries such as PyTorch
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to mentor team members and think systemically about solutions
  • Experience managing projects from inception to deployment
  • Leadership skills in cross-functional teams and a product-oriented mindset

Preferred:

  • PhD in relevant fields
  • Knowledge of audio and image processing techniques
  • Healthcare domain knowledge and data integration experience
  • Understanding of FDA regulations for medical software
  • Strategic decision-making experience for teams
