Job summary

Synapse Health seeks an experienced Staff Data Scientist to own end-to-end models for vendor matching, order routing, and supply chain optimization. You will design autonomous decision logic, mentor senior data scientists, and deliver production-grade solutions in a fast-growing healthcare startup.

Requirements include a Master\'s in a quantitative field, 7+ years in data science, Python/SQL proficiency, and prior healthcare data experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field (CS, Stats, DS, OR) required.
• 7+ years in data science with a track record as an independent senior IC.
• Healthcare startup experience with claims data is highly valued.
• Strong Python and SQL with production-grade coding ability.
• Experience shipping ML products end to end in collaboration with data engineering.

Responsibilities

• Build and own models for vendor matching, order routing, and supply chain optimization.
• Architect confidence thresholds and autonomous decision logic for agentic AI.
• Quantify counterfactual impact with real metrics, not assumptions.
• Ship models end to end from experimentation to production with data engineering.
• Apply predictive ML, causal ML, reinforcement learning, OR, or causal inference as needed.
• Mentor senior data scientists and raise technical standards.
• Write robust technical design docs and maintain high-quality work.
• Collaborate with leadership to plan quarterly, sequential priorities.
