Job summary

Plaid is seeking a senior Data Scientist to analyze network data, build dashboards, and monitor ML model health. You will partner with product and engineering to translate insights into actionable actions and drive product improvements.

The role requires 6+ years in data science or analytics, strong SQL and Python skills, and experience with data pipelines (dbt/Airflow). Hybrid office schedule is expected.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Data Science or analytics
• Proficient in SQL and data visualization tools
• Knowledge of modern ML techniques including classification, clustering, and optimization
• Experience evaluating model performance and tying results to business outcomes
• Ability to code and iterate in Python for EDA
• Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with data pipelines using dbt or Airflow is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS, Statistics, Eng, Econ, or related field
• Ability to work from Plaid office at least 3 days/week

Job description

• Analyze entities across the Plaid network to understand behavior and identify opportunities, anomalies, and risks
• Create foundational metrics, dashboards, and monitoring systems for network health and machine learning model performance
• Evaluate the value and performance of machine learning models using customer and internal data
• Identify opportunities to improve existing models and translate findings into actionable narratives for product and engineering leaders
• Design experiments, define success metrics and guardrails, analyze results, and communicate recommendations to stakeholders
• Analyze Plaid product and customer data to identify opportunities for product improvement and expansion
• Partner with cross-functional teams to build reliable data models and analytics workflows
• Establish the analytics and metrics backbone for the Embedded Insights team
• Support machine learning model development and contribute to Plaid network health and product quality

Requirements

• 6+ years of industry experience in Data Science or a related analytics role
• Deep familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools
• Understanding of modern machine learning techniques, such as classification, clustering, and optimization
• Experience evaluating model performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and connecting technical results to business outcomes
• Proven ability to tailor analytical solutions to business problems while working with cross-functional partners
• Ability to code and iterate independently in Python, particularly for exploratory data analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain analytical methods, tradeoffs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience building or partnering on data pipelines using dbt or Airflow is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or a closely related field
• Ability to work from the Plaid office associated with this role at least 3 days per week, with or without a reasonable accommodation
