Job summary

Roblox is seeking a senior Data Scientist to own ranking initiatives powering Home, Search, Matchmaking, and Notifications. You will build models that shape the economy and community experiences, reporting to the Senior Director of Data Science.

The role demands an advanced degree and 10+ years in data science or ML engineering, with expertise in Python, SQL, and deep learning. You will partner with Product and Engineering to drive impactful, measurable improvements in a fast-growing two-sided

Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative field.
• 10+ years in Data Science, Economics, or ML Engineering within large-scale recommender systems or UGC platforms.
• Expert in the modern data stack (Python, R, SQL, Hive, Spark, Airflow) and deep learning.
• Ability to design experiments for a two-sided marketplace and social network effects.
• Ability to distill high-dimensional problems into succinct, actionable narratives for executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of ML solutions and ranking frameworks for discovery canvases.
• Serve as primary scientific advisor to Product and Engineering with data-driven insights and ML prototypes.
• Apply causal inference and experimentation methodologies to measure platform initiatives.
• Develop scalable frameworks to accelerate hypothesis generation and experimentation velocity.
• Balance visibility of established top-tier experiences with discovery of new niche UGC content using first-principles reasoning.
