Job summary

GetYourGuide is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Central Data Products team in Berlin. You will build horizontal data products, deploy ML models in production, and collaborate with data scientists, MLOps engineers, and business stakeholders to shape AI usage across the marketplace.

You’ll own projects end-to-end, from business challenge to production code, develop data pipelines, establish evaluation/monitoring, and contribute to ML infra and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience deploying ML models in production.
• Ability to turn data into actionable insights for business stakeholders using analytics tools and SQL/Spark.
• Experience with LLMs, prompt design, tool use, orchestration (LangChain) and evaluation/guardrails.
• Proficiency in Python and distributed ML frameworks (e.g., Spark).
• Strong business acumen in fast-paced environments and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.

Team mission

At the Central Data Products team, our mission is to build, operate, and drive adoption of horizontal data products that empower multiple clusters across GetYourGuide.

We are a horizontal team within central services, and our products are pivotal to the entire flywheel: Consumer, Growth, and Supply. We own the systems that decide how our marketplace is understood and organized: location and travel category tagging that powers landing pages, the landing page eligibility framework that unlocks marketing efficiency at scale, destination maps and travel-relevance models that steer supply acquisition into untapped markets, and the Customer Lifetime Value model that shifts the company from short-term revenue optimization to long-term customer value. Many of these systems are LLM-based and running in production today.

As a Senior Data Scientist at GetYourGuide, you’ll be a key part of an inclusive, high-impact team working closely with Data Scientists, MLOps Engineers, and business stakeholders to shape how we use AI across the marketplace. You’ll have the opportunity to work with millions of images, collaborating with our VISOP Team, using ML/AI model to enhance image quality, relevance and compliance. Your mission:

• Develop innovative data products that not only enable suppliers to delight our customers but also drive the success of our company.
• Take full ownership of projects, guiding them from the initial business challenge to the deployment of production code. This includes:
  • Analyzing large datasets to uncover meaningful insights
  • Building and maintaining robust data pipelines
  • Establishing rigorous evaluation and monitoring strategies, as well as in-production guardrails. Monitoring and optimizing data products after deployment
• Contribute to the development of our machine learning infrastructure and help establish best practices that will shape our future.
• Work closely with cross-functional technology and business teams, leveraging your unique perspective to solve complex and exciting problems.
• Support the continuous improvement and growth of our team, including participating in recruiting efforts to bring in new talent.

Your toolkit:

• Machine Learning. You have 5+ years of experience deploying ML models in production coupled with a solid understanding of ML techniques and their practical applications. Experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production is a must.
• Analytics. Ability to turn data into actionable insights for business stakeholders. Experience with hypothesis testing and proficiency in analytics tools (e.g., pandas/polars) and SQL/Spark.
• Experience with LLMs and Agentic AI. You have experience working in production with prompt design, tool use, orchestration (e.g., LangChain), retrieval/RAG, evaluator design, guardrails, and tracing/observability is a plus.
• Software Engineering Proficiency in Python. Knowledge of distributed machine learning and computing frameworks (e.g., Spark) is beneficial.
• Business Acumen. You have experience in a fast-paced business environment, demonstrating result-driven work.
• Communication. Strong skills in explaining complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• An advanced degree in a quantitative field or equivalent practical experience.
