The Home Depot is seeking a Senior Data Scientist within BlackLocus to drive competitive intelligence, pricing, and assortment using large-scale data analyses and AI techniques. You will design models, mentor team members, and establish scalable processes while advancing ML and generative AI initiatives.

Located in Austin, TX, you will collaborate across business and technical teams to deliver actionable insights for a Fortune 25 company. Occasional travel is expected.

Formación

• PhD or Master in a quantitative field (Statistics, OR, Economics, CS) required.
• Extensive experience with Python and SQL.
• Outstanding skills in data cleaning, data analysis, predictive analytics, causal inference, and machine learning.
• Experience designing, testing, deploying, and scaling advanced AI systems (generative AI, agent-based solutions).
• Strong software engineering skills for production-grade systems and cross-functional collaboration.

This specificpositionmay focus on any or all ofBlackLocus’ key accountabilities,and the mix may vary over time.Regardless of area of focus, this person will directly influence competitive intelligence, pricing, and assortmentdecisionsfor a Fortune 25 company.

Key Responsibilities:

• 25% Design and develop algorithms and models to use against large datasets to create business insights.

• 25% Provide direction on prioritization of work, ensure quality of work outputs, and develop the competencies of direct reports.

• 20% Establishing scalable, efficient processes for large scale data analyses, model development and model implementation

• 20% Solve problems creatively with strategic insights. Leverage data to present a compelling business case to optimize price points.

• 10% Remain knowledgeable on advancements in data science and machine learning. Identify opportunities to apply learnings.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

• Position reports to Sr. Manager, Data Science

Travel Requirements:

• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

• Developing generative AI and agent-based solutions

• Leveraging cloud AI platforms, embedding techniques, and multimodal models

• Applying prompt optimization and statistical analysis to drive system performance

• Strong software engineering skills, including development of scalable, maintainable, production-grade systems

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts intoeasily interpretable materialfor business stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
