PlanIT Group is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate must provide various general classes of services and subject matter experts capable of working independently, with other vendor team members, and as part of an existing team. The effective provision of the services requires careful interaction with the client project manager, contractors, product vendors, and management.

Senior Data Scientist (Remote)

Description:
To support the US Government client’s mission, projects, and system requirements, the team requires sophisticated information technology system support services. The Supplier must provide various general classes of services and subject matter experts capable of working independently, with other vendor team members, and as part of an existing team. The effective provision of the services requires careful interaction with the client project manager, contractors, product vendors, and management.

The support services shall include but are not limited to:

1. Conduct data analysis and data mining using a variety of analytic tools.
2. Applying standard software development methodologies as defined in the Software Development Framework (SDF) to successfully complete projects (currently uses Agile methodologies and VersionOne as the standard Agile support tool).
3. Showing a high level of competence in the operating environment tools and technology.
4. Demonstrating knowledge of the assigned systems and an understanding of the business processes that support the systems and operations.
5. Providing user support and problem resolution for assigned work.
6. Creating and maintaining required system and technical documentation.
7. Communicating project status, deliverables, priorities, problems, risks, issues, and contingencies as directed by Endpoint Technology personnel.
8. Effectively and proactively working with customers/end users of application(s) to ensure needs are being met/managed in a positive manner.
9. Developing as directed by project leaders/managers.
10. Providing monthly status reports, including key performance metrics, as defined in the SDF.
11. Providing turnover documentation, including but not limited to transition planning, documented best practices, and workflow improvements, as required by project leaders/managers.
12. Providing integrated architectural and program support services for the Endpoint Technology.
13. Providing a comprehensive range of support services to the client that include network systems and desktop computing support, application design, telecom system development and implementation, risk reduction, and maintenance.
14. Providing technical advisory and functional industry advisory services and deliverables.

Under US Government client’s guidance and direction, the contractor will provide support, and review and/or participate in the development of various initiatives, which include:

1. Data analysis and reporting
2. Descriptive and prescriptive analytics
3. Schedule, quality, and risk management
4. Weekly and monthly status reporting to provide executive-level presentations on all initiatives.
5. Project benefit/outcome services and deliverables
6. Technical advisory services and deliverables
7. Functional industry advisory services and deliverables

Technical Requirements:

1. Proven experience developing software systems utilizing Unified Process (UP), Rapid Application Development (RAD) and Agile methodologies.
2. Demonstrate experience in various analytic tools such as Power BI, Python, and R.
3. Demonstrate the ability to conduct data mining and analysis.
4. Experience in understanding Section 508 regulations and compliance of these regulations in support of the design and development of web-based applications.

Additional Provisions:

1. Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance
2. Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
3. All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident only.
4. Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
5. Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
