Responsible for analyzing large PI and API datasets to extract valuable insights, develop predictive models, and support data-driven decision-making processes.

Job Duties

(Functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

1. Owns and drives innovation through digitalization and technology adoption.
2. Supports building infrastructure for the next phase of digital transformation in refining.
3. Provides analytics support to help achieve refinery objectives across the fleet.
4. Partners with sites and corporate teams on digital innovation efforts and leads initiatives.
5. Educates and trains others on data utilization; builds fleetwide capability.
6. Transitions Proof of Concepts (POCs) into sustainable processes and tools.
7. Collects, cleans, and preprocesses data from various sources.
8. Develops and implements machine learning models to address business problems.
9. Performs exploratory data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
10. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and provide insights.
11. Creates visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
12. Stays updated with industry trends and technologies.
13. Consults with teams on best practices for leveraging data for value creation.

Additional special assignments or tasks may be assigned by supervisors at their discretion.

Experience

A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist and 1 year in refining is required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

Oil and Gas industry experience is preferred.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields, or equivalent work experience, is required.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL.
• Experience with machine learning frameworks like Yolo for imaging recognition.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Ability to foster strategic partnerships and influence at all leadership levels.
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven success in project management.
• Self-starter with a results-driven approach.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment as part of a team.
• Skills in coaching, mentoring, and skills development.
• Intermediate mathematical skills.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL.

Work Conditions

Office-based with up to 25% travel required. May involve long hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
