Job summary

CenterCheck, a location intelligence startup, seeks a Data Scientist and Data Engineer to advance real-world modeling and user experiences. You will define data requirements, source new data, and build scalable pipelines while communicating insights across teams.

Expect mentorship, collaboration, and hands-on data work in a fast-moving environment. You will work cross-functionally to deliver analyses and reports, shape product data strategies, and help clients understand market needs.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of experience in geospatial analysis.
• Experience with descriptive and inferential statistics.
• Ability to perform correlation analyses and insight-driven modeling.
• Proven ML experience for regression, classification, clustering, and anomaly detection.
• Strong time-series analysis skills.
• Experience with entity resolution and data linking.
• Experience building data pipelines and orchestration.
• Focus on data quality and validation checks.
• Ability to visualize data with Tableau, Plotly, Matplotlib.
• Experience with ETL processes.
• Proficient in Python & PySpark; SQL proficiency.
• Hands-on data entry discipline.

CenterCheck is a location intelligence platform that helps property owners, retailers, brokerages, REITs, banks, financial services firms, and municipalities understand how physical locations perform nationwide. By combining transaction data and customer intelligence, we give clients the insights they need to make smarter decisions about real estate and local markets.

We’re looking for a motivated Data Scientist and Data Engineer who’s excited to help improve our real-world modeling with a fast-moving company at the intersection of technology and location intelligence.

Responsibilities:

• Set data requirements based on information from internal teams and user research.
• Have an eagerness to innovate on the product and identify creative data solutions to improve the user experience.
• Analyze how a product solution satisfies market needs and consumer preferences.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and other team members to ensure consistent and accurate communication.
• Seek new data sources to improve our models.
• Ensure quality and accurate fitness of the real world.
• Interface between prospective clients, sales, and customer support to respond to specific customer inquiries.
• Develop customized reports, stylized and branded for professionalism.
• Data entry - Not afraid to spend full days grinding.

4-5 Years of Experience in the Following Areas of Data Science & Statistics:

• Geospatial Analysis: Extracting insights from location-based data.
• Descriptive & Inferential Statistics: Summarizing data and making data-driven decisions using hypothesis testing and confidence intervals.
• Correlation Analysis: Identifying relationships between variables.
• Machine Learning: Building models for regression, classification, clustering, and outlier detection.
• Time Series Analysis: Analyzing trends, seasonality, and anomalies in temporal data.
• Entity Resolution: Matching messy records across sources, linking multiple datasets together.
• Data Pipelines & Orchestration: Scheduling, automating, and monitoring workflows that move data reliably end to end.
• Data Quality & Validation: Building checks and guardrails so bad data gets caught before it reaches a customer.
• Data Visualization: Communicating insights effectively with tools like Tableau, Plotly, and Matplotlib.
• ETL: Transforming raw data into usable formats for analysis.
• Python & PySpark: Leveraging Python for workflows and PySpark for processing large-scale data.
• SQL: Querying and managing relational databases for efficient data access.
• Data Entry: Good data in, good data out. Sometimes you just gotta roll up your sleeves.

Bonus:

• Alternative Data Paneling and Modeling: Experience with alternative data paneling and modeling, building representative panels from sources like card transaction data, extrapolating samples to the broader population, and applying confidence intervals to grade projection fitness.
• Real Estate: A familiarity or understanding of the world of commercial real estate, retail, and storefront economics. A general curiosity and motivation to learn and seek out inspirations from a variety of areas in Commercial Real Estate.
• Financial Services: A familiarity or understanding of the world of financial services, capital markets, and institutional investment. A general curiosity and motivation to learn and seek out inspirations from a variety of areas across the financial services landscape.
• Databricks: A familiarity or understanding of the Databricks platform, including Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and building production data pipelines. A general curiosity and motivation to learn and seek out best practices from a variety of areas across the Databricks and broader data engineering ecosystem.
