Job summary

General Motors seeks a Lead Data Scientist to architect and deliver complex data science solutions across automotive domains. You will design, train, and deploy generative AI and ML models, manage unstructured data, and guide cross-functional teams.

You will mentor junior data scientists, communicate findings with stakeholders, and help grow GM's data science community. Strong Python, vector DBs, LLMs, RAG, and agent frameworks are essential; automotive experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master's in a quantitative field is required or closely related.
• 5+ years of progressive data science or analytics experience.
• Strong Python, vector databases, and similarity search skills.
• Hands-on with foundation models (LLMs) for reasoning tasks.
• Experience with RAG architecture and agentic design.
• Human-in-the-loop workflow design experience and HITL projects.

Requirements

• Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
• 5+ years of progressive experience in data science or a related analytical role
• Strong proficiency in Python, vector databases, and similarity search engines
• Hands-on experience with foundation models (LLMs) for structured reasoning tasks
• Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architecture and implementation
• Experience with agentic framework design and multi-agent system orchestration
• Experience with Human-in-the-loop (HITL) workflow design
• Familiarity with Kiro, Agent Strands, Bedrock AgentCore, and Bedrock Knowledge Base
• Demonstrated ability to apply predictive and prescriptive analytics to real-world business problems
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Ph.D. in a related quantitative field is preferred
• Automotive experience is a plus
• Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future
