Job summary

Ibotta is seeking a senior data scientist to lead data-driven initiatives in a dynamic team. You will collaborate across stakeholders to extract insights, build models, and drive product and customer behavior analysis.

You will mentor teams, design experiments, and advance ML processes within the data ecosystem while upholding security and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a professional data science or ML role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics or related field.
  • Experience using data to drive important business decisions and storytelling.
  • Applied ML and statistical algorithms to optimize processes, predict outcomes, forecast trends.
  • Expert Python with strong database manipulation skills.
  • Experience handling complex data in data lakes and distributed systems.
  • Strong statistical analysis and experimental design knowledge.
  • US work authorization is required.

Job description

  • Initiate and drive collaboration with stakeholders, architects, and data engineers to discover, define, cleanse, and refine data needed for analysis and modeling
  • Establish cross-departmental relationships to understand business problems and opportunities for improvement
  • Analyze and sometimes build large and novel datasets to extract actionable insights for model development and customer behavior or product performance analysis
  • Prioritize projects based on business impact and value
  • Lead and manage large-scale projects
  • Build models using statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Select appropriate models and use advanced techniques to measure and optimize model performance
  • Become an expert in the Ibotta's Data Ecosystem and how teams leverage its data for domain-specific business questions
  • Inform experimental design to address major business challenges and innovation opportunities
  • Provide data science mentoring and education across the company
  • Uphold Ibotta's Core Values
  • Securely handle data, identify and report phishing attempts, and report security incidents
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience making significant impacts in a professional data science or machine learning role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics or a related field required
  • Experience driving important decisions using data and data storytelling
  • Applied machine learning and statistical algorithms to optimize processes, predict outcomes, forecast trends, and enhance decision-making
  • Expert-level Python knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Expert-level knowledge, skills, and abilities in database manipulation, query languages, and graph data schemas
  • Experience manipulating complex data to apply business rules for improved feature engineering within data lakes, distributed systems, and data streams
  • Excellent statistical analysis skills
  • Solid understanding of experimental design
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills
  • Candidates must live in the United States
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Spark or PySpark experience is a strong plus
  • Broad-scale community contributions to data science and machine learning are a strong plus
  • Time series analysis is a strong plus
  • Experience in MLOps is a strong plus but not required
