Job summary

CarMax’s Logistics Modeling team builds algorithms to plan nationwide vehicle moves, optimizing routes, driver utilization, and on-time delivery. You will lead AI-driven planning models and software to autonomously plan moves with high business impact.

The role requires excellent quantitative skills, leadership, and the ability to deliver measurable value while coordinating with IT and field teams at CarMax’s Richmond, VA location.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree with exceptional academic performance in quantitative disciplines (Statistics, Math, Data Science, CS, Engineering).
• Advanced Degree (Master’s/Ph.D.) is a plus.
• Mathematical, modeling, and reasoning skills to build complex planning models.
• 4+ years’ experience in strategy, analytics and/or data science.
• Proven ability to deliver business value by leveraging deep analytic skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop optimal planning strategies to meet business objectives.
• Lead development of logistics planning strategies using analytics.
• Lead AI-driven optimization and autonomous planning initiatives.
• Communicate results to stakeholders across the organization.
• Drive $10-25MM/yr incremental value from logistics strategy.
