Job summary

Bain & Company is seeking a Senior Data Product Manager to own a portfolio of data products within the Knowledge & Research Systems domain. You will guide data product strategy, collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders, and drive adoption across the lifecycle.

The role emphasizes translating business needs into clear data product requirements, aligning roadmaps with value and quality, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver on strategic goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 7+ years in data product management or related fields.
• Experience with agile/Scrum and managing backlogs across multiple workstreams.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data pipelines, data quality, metadata, lineage, governance, and BI concepts.
• Excellent ability to bridge technical and business communication and influence senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of data products end to end, including reliability, business value, adoption, documentation, and continuous improvement
• Independently lead data product initiatives from problem definition and discovery through design, delivery, launch, and adoption
• Shape the data product roadmap and prioritize work based on business value, adoption, data quality, strategic alignment, and risk
• Connect data products to high-value use cases across the case lifecycle, including knowledge discovery, research, reporting, and AI
• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics engineering, architecture, AI, search, and platform teams to influence what is built and how it is designed
• Shape data product architecture, data models, metric definitions, semantic layers, and reporting requirements
• Partner with practices, case teams, Knowledge Management, Research and Data Services, PPK, and other business leaders to shape and draft requirements
• Translate complex business needs into clear, buildable data product requirements, epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Lead discovery sessions, working groups, design reviews, user testing, demonstrations, and stakeholder decision forums
• Oversee data quality, reliability, freshness, lineage, discoverability, accessibility, and service‑level expectations
• Partner with Data Stewards, Legal, Risk, Information Security, and Privacy teams to address governance and access requirements
• Drive data literacy and adoption through communications, training, enablement, and embedded user feedback
• Maintain a clear, prioritized backlog aligned with the data product strategy and roadmap, including writing and refining user stories and acceptance criteria
• Determine which work is ready for delivery and validate that completed work meets agreed requirements
• Lead team meetings and sprint reviews, identifying dependencies, risks, and impediments and driving their resolution
