Job summary

Meta is seeking a Lead Counsel (Data Protection) to advise on privacy issues primarily related to human resources and security. You will help drive high-profile internal initiatives across the business involving complex legal and regulatory issues.

This role requires deep knowledge of US privacy laws, strong business judgment, and the ability to work independently and with large multi-stakeholder teams. Meta offers competitive compensation including a base salary in the $170,000–$237,000 range

Qualifications

• JD or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
• Active bar license in at least one US state.
• 5+ years of legal experience as an attorney.
• Working knowledge of global privacy laws and programs.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated business judgment and strategic thinking.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines.
• Experience collaborating across functions to drive alignment.

Responsibilities

• Support Meta's global privacy program and develop privacy frameworks and processes.
• Advise on the impact of privacy laws on HR and security processes and internal tools.
• Develop and maintain subject-matter expertise in privacy.
• Support privacy matters across legal, policy, and business teams, including data subject rights, recruitment, and AI in the workplace.
• Engage with regulators on privacy features and initiatives.
