Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Research Methodologies, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration, Psychology or Education (with substantial coursework in computer science, data science, mathematics or statistics), or Bachelor's with one year of relevant experience.
• One year of experience computing and cleaning data from databases.
• Experience developing research project plans with methodological rationale.
• Experience writing reports and developing presentations showing data analysis results.
• Proficiency in SQL and Excel.
• Ability to identify data quality issues.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Creativity and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Writes SQL code and/or performs statistical analysis on large data sets using data warehouse and tools like SAS, Power BI or Tableau.
• Oversees design for data collections related to accountability systems.
• Applies complex statistical methods for analysis.
• Sets standards for analysis protocols with leadership.
• Evaluates data quality for accountability indicators.
• Leads accountability advisory committees as needed.
• Identifies policy or technical issues and recommends research methodologies.
• Conducts research for agency initiatives and reports results.
• Reviews research to inform policy and practice.
• Documents research and synthesizes findings in reports and presentations.
• Responds to technical questions from educators who may not be statisticians.
• Provides accessible technical information to stakeholders.
• Does independent research for special assignments as needed.
• Produces ad hoc data requests.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
