Job summary

NinjaTrader Clearing, LLC is seeking a Sr. Database Reliability Engineer II in Chicago to architect, evolve, and optimize our data platform powering core trading apps. You will work with engineers across teams to boost performance, scalability, and reliability.

Ideal candidates have deep MySQL/Postgres expertise, production-grade backend experience, and strong SQL optimization skills. Hybrid work in Chicago with remote flexibility for select states is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience building backend applications using Java, C#, Go, Python, Kotlin, Scala, or similar languages.
• Expert-level experience with MySQL in large-scale production environments.
• Deep understanding of SQL optimization, query plans, indexing, transactions, locking, and concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve MySQL schemas for high-volume transactional workloads.
• Drive improvements to data platform architecture, migrations, and scalability initiatives.
• Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans.
• Develop production-quality software to improve persistence layer and tooling.
• Lead data model design balancing performance and maintainability.
• Build libraries and tooling to improve data access and developer productivity.
• Mentor engineers on data modeling, SQL optimization, and performance.
