Job summary

NinjaTrader, a leading futures trading platform based in Chicago, seeks a Sr. Database Reliability Engineer II to architect and optimize the data platform powering core trading apps.

You will focus on MySQL performance, scalable schemas, and developer tooling while collaborating with platform teams. The role favors a backend-focused engineer with production experience, strong SQL skills, and a passion for reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level experience with MySQL in large-scale production environments.
• Strong understanding of SQL optimization, indexing, transactions, isolation levels, locking and concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve MySQL schemas supporting high-volume transactional workloads.
• Define and drive improvements to the data platform architecture and migrations.
• Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans.
• Develop production-quality software that improves persistence layer and tooling.
• Lead data modeling for performance, maintainability, and growth.
• Mentor engineers on data modeling, SQL optimization, and performance.
