Job summary

Dropbox is hiring a Senior Manager, Data Engineering to lead the team responsible for reliability, quality, cost, and velocity of Dropbox's core data platform. You will own ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and serving layers, partnering with Data Science, BI Engineering, Analytics, Product, and CTO to deliver durable, reusable data products.

The ideal candidate is an engineering leader with deep technical and product sense, focused on data quality, observability, and seamless self-serve

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data engineering or backend/data infrastructure experience with increasing scope.
• 3+ years of experience directly managing and growing engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and team design.
• Proven track record building and operating large-scale batch and streaming pipelines (e.g., Spark, dbt, Airflow) on a modern lakehouse or warehouse stack (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Strong data modeling fundamentals and the ability to design a semantic layer and data contracts that serve many downstream consumers.
• Excellent communication and the ability to align engineering, data science, analytics, and business partners around shared reliability and quality goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a data engineering team responsible for pipelines and data products.
• Ensure data quality, observability, and reliable data delivery across groups.
• Oversee ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and serving layers.
• Collaborate with Data Science, BI Engineering, Analytics, Product, Data Platform, and the CTO org on semantic layer and data contracts.
• Promote engineering practices, CI/CD for data, incidents, postmortems, and AI-assisted tooling.
